  • Five Dollars? How can you possibly expect anybody to pay five dollars for an iPhone dice app?

You know, I don’t know if anyone will or not. But I didn’t price Hero Roller by comparing it to other iPhone dice apps, because there are no other iPhone dice apps that do what Hero Roller does (this is a true statement as I write this). I priced Hero Roller to compare with its competition: dice. Hero System players own lots of dice (mostly six sided) and you can pay quite a bit for each die or set of dice. Hero Roller allows you to roll up to 1000 dice, which would cost you a lot more than $5 to buy. And it does all the adding and stuff for you, even figuring out BODY and STUN separately, which allows you to spend your brainpower on figuring out what your character is going to do instead of trying to figure out how many 1s and 6s you rolled to add up the BODY on the Normal Damage attack :-).

  • What’s the difference between the Lite version and the Full version?

As of Version 1.1, the Lite version of Hero Roller only supports up to 12 damage classes (instead of 1000), limits your history to 50 rolls (instead of 2500) and doesn't save/restore the preloads across program runs. (Before Version 1.1) The Lite version of Hero Roller only supports up to 12 damage classes (instead of 999), provides only two preload buttons (instead of nine), and reminds you every couple of hundred d6 to consider buying the full version.

The Full version supports up to 1000 damage classes, retains a history of up to 2500 rolls, and does save your preloads across program runs.

  • Can you make Hero Roller do something it doesn’t do now, like ...?

If you want Hero Roller to do something it doesn’t do now, feel free to email me (there’s a link down at the bottom of the page that says “Contact Me”) and let me know what it is. As a programmer, I have to tell you that the real answer to this question is probably “yes, I can”, but the real question is “Will you...”. And that depends upon what I think about your idea and whether other people suggest something similar, and how hard it would be to add your particular feature.

  • I have a great idea for an iPhone program. How about I tell you the idea, you write the software, and we split the money?

Thanks, but no thanks. Ideas can be valuable, but it’s usually execution that really matters. If your idea is so wonderful, email me (there’s a link down at the bottom of the page that says “Contact Me”) and we can discuss you hiring me to program your idea for you. Then you get to keep all the money that it makes except for the part you have to pay me to make it work.

  • I have a question that isn’t here. How do I get an answer?

You use the link at the bottom of the page that says “Contact Me”. I do my best to read all my email and to respond appropriately. If I think your question is important enough, I’ll add it to this FAQ.
